This is the last piece of the holy trinity for me. Is it worth $2400? My favorite lens is the 24-70 2.8, but I have been blown away by the 14-24 2.8. What a beautiful lens. What should I do? Give into the GAS? How great is the 70-200? Will be using it on a d610

Yeah, the 70-200 f/2.8 is pretty great! If you shoot sports, animals, or portraits, this is one to have.

Worth every penny I hear. I have the older version.

It is not a question of need. It is a question of want. The other two thirds of the holy trinity are so good that I am on the fence for the third piece. What do I do? Can hear the GAS now

I finally bought a 70-200 vrii, but made the mistake of loaning it to my wife. Haven't held it since. Luckily I still have my 80-200 2.8. Its just as good if you aren't using the vr. Maybe in some situations better. Hopefully soon I'll get visitation.

First rate and, IMO, one of just two Nikkors that produces excellent results with all three teleconverters.

If it were me, and I could afford it, I'd go for it.

The lens that draws attention is the 14-24. What a beautiful piece of glass. B&H sells a thermos in the shape of a 70-200 2.8 for thirty dollars. A cheaper alternative, but I know I will not be happy until I get the real deal. What do you think, thermos or lens?

I have the 70-200 VRII and love it but don't have the "trinity", got the 16-35 instead of the 10-24. Thought I wouldn't be able to enjoy the 10-24 as much w/o a circular polarizer or neutral density filter. If you appreciate your 24-70 and reconize it's quality you will have the same feeling about the 70-200- guaranteed. ;)
