A Sad Mate....

This hawk lost it's mate over the weekend next door.
I was talking with the neighbor last night and she said it apparently happened during the day.
I wasn't sure if the feathers were from an Owl or one of the Hawks that frequent our area... until today.
I just happened to go outside and brave the heat to see what was going on.
Not was I disappointed....
A few fruits of the effort. Tamron "BigTam" at play.
Very good captures, especially the first one.

Thank You, Ebote.
I was looking for something close in. Started with the tomato, but the sun was not right.
Moved around to the deck behind the pool when the Hawk showed up next door. It sat looking forlorn on the cross arm atop the pole, looking all around for its mate. Something killed and devoured its mate on the neighbors front lawn Saturday morning. If it was a cat, the cat won.
When I moved to get a better vantage point, I saw the mouse swimming in the pool. After getting numerous shots of the hawk, the mouse found the floating toy and was really up S___ Creek without a paddle.
After getting my fill of the mouse as well, I got my leaf basket and let the hapless critter hitch a ride to the back fence. But it bailed out over a chair and quickly scampered down into a stack of firewood.
A captured one of our numerous blue bellied lizards, too. But it was through the pool fence and wasn't worthy to show.
By this time it was getting too hot outside, so I came back in.
