The door of an old schoolhouse. Worn brass, weathered wood - what's not to love?

Those door could tell a story if they could talk. Your photo speaks for sure. Good capture.

I like this but then again, I like close ups that emphasize texture and detail. If I could make a comment, I would have shot it in Portrait mode rather than Landscape to accentuate the lines of the door and the overall vertical line of the handles.

Thank you, skooters! The edifice was built in the 1920's. From the looks of it, I think it is quite likely the door and its handles are still original.

I like the angle of the shot...exactly as I remember as a child. It brought back the memories of the feel of the handles, the heft of the door as I entered my even then old school. If anything, it shows how we each bring our personal experiences to how we perceive the same photo.

You're right, I should go back and try it in Portrait mode... see if I can make it work. I certainly want to capture a bit of the door's interesting intricacies along with the handles; in that regard, Portrait mode may be a bit more of a challenge than Landscape mode. Thanks for the comment!

For me, this image brings back quite poignant memories as well... it's a school I actually attended a long time ago. Yes, that door is hefty indeed! I did put in a lot of effort into finding an angle that is both interesting and expressive. I avoided a typical straight-on perspective because I think it would have looked too formal and most importantly, less like our actual memories of things and places in our past.
