Seattle in September - Update

We leave tomorrow for Seattle -

Hope you can make it to Salty's the 19th for a meet & greet at happy hour (web site says 3 to 6 M~F) -
Possibly get together on Saturday for local pic's if there is an interest - or any special events that may be a photo op.

I would suggest meeting at the Pike Place Market for coffee and go from there... - I would guess Starbucks...

We have no hard schedule Sat/Sun so pretty much anything is open -

Will be intermittent on being online next week -
Have a great week...

Weather is great. Looks like just a slight chance of rain by next Thursday, but should be pretty good for the most part while you're here.

I'm headed to Vancouver on Saturday and might be able to make the meet at Salty's on the 19th. Can't make Saturday though, have some family obligations in Vancouver that day.

From what I've read, Salty's is a very busy place (I'm assuming you are going to the one at: 1936 Harbor Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126). I'll send you a PM with my cell number, the phone might be the only way to find each other!

Hope the weather holds!

Were either of you able to make it down to the fair? I hope so. It's always fun to go to every year. I'm glad the weather for the most part has been nice while you've been here. Supposed to be sunny again tom. and highs in the lower 80's. We really lucked out with good fair weather this year. I can remember years past standing in the NW Outdoors Bldg. and having it rain hard over us and then getting done with our shift and having to walk out in the rain to the Green Gate to go catch the Kiwanis shuttle to go back up the hill.

Didn't make the fair, not enough time in our schedule... We did make a whale watching cruise, Artists point, Deception Pass, a few state parks and then the market. Today we explored the waterfront and immediate area and then took the water taxi to West Seattle and met some wonderful folks... the time slipped by quickly and before we knew it, it was happy hour and we went to Salty's... I talked the waitress into posting a sigh for UHH and told them to direct any questions to us on the patio - unfortunately, no one was directed to our table so I am guessing that no one was able to make it... We did have a very informative discussion with some local folks and a learned a lot about the area. We were given more sights to visit and will have to see if they fit into our time schedule - with the projected weather, we are trying to get all the outdoor events completed on the good days and saving the museums and such for the rainy days...

Thanks to all for the ideas and places to see - we're still working our way through the list and hopefully we will get most of it completed -

Will post some photos once I return home and have processed them through my work flow...

If you're still up North hope you have a chance to go to the Skagit River. Excellent spot for birding. Being further up North you will have a better chance than I do at seeing migration happening. If you don't know what a Varied Thrush is look that up online. Beautiful bird that we get here in the winter. Another few that you can see possibly up there would be the Townsend's Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Bewrick's Wren, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet that are just now migrating down. Also possibly a flock of Bushtits. I do not expect to see a Varied Thrush for about 6-8 weeks still. The others even longer besides the Bewrick's Wren. I have already seen it. When it comes though it just migrates through and does not appear to stay around like the others. Same with the Bushtits.

Ran out of time to make it back up north - we made most of our planned points-of-interest but had more to see than time... Back home now and catching up on yard maintenance and post trip items...
Thanks for the suggestions - when we return to finish our list, we plan on spending more time outside of the city and see more of the area and wildlife...
