I have so many friends in England, family working and living in England that I really don't see the "Yes" vote being me. I certainly don't wish to see any form of separation that causes division as such. I've stayed away from any debates or discussions regarding the referendum. Thanks to the coverage by all media it is difficult to escape altogether.
However, one quote caught my eye, and let me say that I feel the question posed is equally applicable to the rest of the UK. It simply asked the "Better together" campaign "Why is it not better together now?"
Bedroom tax, high unemployment, vast payments to Europe and as many poor as we had in Victorian days.
One millionaire MP asked that we save the UK he loves. Unfortunately, the majority are nearer the breadline, and live in another UK. Honest, I don't know where my my next bottle of champagne and Lobster Thermidor are coming from. Another example of Westminster being out of touch.
Sorry for the rant, but my friends are more important than their nationality, which is only an accident of birth.

Sounds like the Canada/Quebec problem. Scotland would not be able to survive outside the Union. If Scotland insisted on leaving, England would only have to tell the Scots that their UK passports are not recognized forthwith, and the Scots must immediately come up with their own monetary system. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen. I'm 1/2 Scottish, 1/2 English.

The Royal Bank of Scotland it the bank for Scotland. Three other banks have already said they would move "south" (England).
world market and join the EU.
Unemployment, both in Scotland and England, is very high.
England and Scotland are in for a rough ride, weather or not Scotland votes to separate.
Two sons in Scotland, 2 grand children and one great grand. One son in England and 5 grands.
Polls show vote to be very close. We'll see on the 18th.

Without taking sides I think that Scotland is now a divided country and will remain that way for some years. With the polls saying it's roughly 50/50 how can there be progress when half the population is automatically going to be against whichever politicians end up governing Scotland?

Royal Bank of Scotland is part of a group, Nat West Bank, Lloyds Bank and TSB. The Group is owned by the British Taxpayer, (81%) and have already stated they would move their headquarters from Edinburgh to London if the Separatists win the referendum.
I believe the statement about moving was generated via the British Government as part of the No campaign.
The question of currency only emerged when the Yes and No polls started to close together.
America, Canada, India, and Australlia, separated and survived. poor Scotland will be doomed??? a poor attempt to get one country to stay under the thumb of another. a thousand years of fighting England for freedom and now people want them to chuck the idea for financial reasons.

Do you know what "United we stand, divided we fall" means?
This is NOT about England Its about Britain, and what happens here affects the Welsh and Northern Irish population as well.
Please stop bashing the ENGLISH the majority of whom are ordinary people like 95% of the rest of the world.
If the referendum goes the YES way all 4 countries will survive but I feel that the 3 remaining countries will sadly fair better economically than Scotland, especially under Alex Salmon.
I say this as an Englishman with a Scottish Glaswegian partner, who incidentally like millions of Scots around the world, has no vote over the destination of there homeland, and many relatives in Scotland, a land and people that I love.
I would support anyones right to be independent and control there own destiny, and if the Scottish people want to go for that then it should NOT be about economics but be purely for the wish to be an independent country, and accept any additional cost that may or may not be involved. That said I do not know any Scottish people here that want Independance or who would trust the SNP.
I do believe that the Westminster Government, like most political structures in the World, needs a massive overhaul and adapt to the needs of ALL people, but that will only happen when the greedy politicians who have both feet in the trough start thinking about the people they represent.
Either way I hope that everyone will accept and respect the wishes of the people of Scotland and all pull together to build a better life for all.

I watched the debate on the TV the other night. The one that was set up with the 7000 school kids, many of whom were over 16 so will get a vote. Whether or not you think they're mature enough to make an informed decision on thier countrys future wasn't helped by the SNP and the BETTER TOGETHER spokespeople spending 15 minutes arguing over what constituted an HQ. And having to be separated by the Chairperson for unintelligible verbal sparring. I went to bed then and tried listening on the radio, but not seeing the combatants just made it worse.
The damage is done, whatever way the vote goes.
P.S. I'd like to see it go big on 'NO' just to see if Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon will stand down / fade away or hang on to thier gravy train posts. They'll probably get a nice little E.U. no.

what does that have to do with Scotland wanting to be independent????? with freedom comes risk, if you won't face the risk, you don't deserve the freedom.

My hope too. Nobody has commented on the 'Better Together' campaign quote I gave. "Why isn't it better today?" - for all of the UK.
"I am from Scotland, but I am a citizen of the world." Apologies to Aristotle, (and others to whom the quote is attributed.)
