A huge orange moon rises over the Yakima Valley at sunset

Monday 7:30 pm. The darned haze and clouds obscured its rise for first few minutes. Not composites - moon really was that large :)

I've seen a few topics already this eve from folks who caught the moon while there was still evening light. I find those shots so interesting! Hope more of you will try it :)

Canon T3i, 55-250 mm kit lens, tripod. Shot in raw. Edits in PSE 12 and Nik Color Efex.

Thanks!

Thank you, Pam. I'm so pleased you enjoyed. Sometimes I just have to step back from the viewfinder and admire scenes like this in real time :)

It's pretty cool that we both shot that moon under such different conditions. (Just think of the thousands of others who did the same tonight.)
Your second one is super. It looks like the moon is resting on that little cloud. Thanks for sharing them, Linda.

Linda From Maine - Really fine pics. I like the wisp of clouds and particularly like the second shot. The timing allowed just enough evening light to make these pics perfect. The best I've seen tonight - good work!

Gorgeous shots. I love the second one too. It's 8.15pm Tuesday here, and I must pop out and have a look. Didn't realize it's the full moon again.

Beautiful shots Linda. Mine are still in the camera but I know the colors won't match yours.

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate your taking the time to view and comment; your kind remarks mean a lot to me!

I agree, Greg, that it's fun to think of all the folks all over the world taking shots of the same moon we did :)
