don't know what kind of insect this is, but here in TN we see a lot of these skins on trees, but it's rare to see it actually morphing.

Hard to imagine but they spend 17 years underground before coming up to hatch out a Cicada, at least that's what I've read. Nice close up shots & lucky timing. :thumbup:

Some kind of cicada. i don't think it is a 13 or 17 year type as they are usually black and orange. Google cicadamania for their web site.
