Flying with the birds.....

A small plane (Decathlon) just took off next to a group of birds quietly minding their own business in the swampy area next to the runway!

Nice capture. I wish I had my camera at the ready the other day. I was taking off and a coyote ran across the runway during the middle of the day. The sight and sound of my airplane had no affect on him whatsoever. Would have been a good shot....

Nice photo! That can be a dangerous mix, though!

Nice to see all kinds of flying, even so close, that sure can be a dangerous combination sometimes, had a air force plane crash here years ago when they ran into some geese I believe it was, sorry can't remember all the details but I think it killed a lot of people in that crash.
They went as far as to put pigs on a island near float plane activity to destroy the seagull eggs and cut the bird/plane encounters down to zero.
I still enjoy the photos of planes as well as birds, very nice.
I was just in Cape Town a couple weeks ago, what a nice place, we will get 2 winters this year, yours now and ours just around the corner.
Isn't that Table Mountain in the background of your photo. Dave

Yes this can be dangerous, but there are a lot of protected wetlands around the area so it would be nearly impossible to prevent birds at that little take off area.
And yes you are correct, Table Mountain in the background :)

Thanks!
I will ask the pilot how he makes sure he stays safe! I do wonder.
