While you were at the Arches I hope you got to go to Canyonlands. It is just down the road. The pictures I took there look like the postcards I bought at the gift shop.

Yes, I agree with you on Bryce. I have been to many canyons all over the Southwest but my most beautiful shots are of Bryce Canyon at sunset in the fall.

I think it would be better to overnight at the Grand Canyon -- I've gotten awesome sunrise shots there (sunset too). Remember - at Zion, you are at the bottom of the mountains, not the top like the Canyon. I've gotten good stuff at Zion even during the day.

Bryce Canyon is even more beautiful if you have a chance to get there!

I agree wholeheartedly. Bryce has much more to see than Zion. Zion would probably be great if one is a rock climber and can follow the trails; however at Zion, you drive up the valley floor and don't see nearly as much as at Bryce.

I regret that I haven't been to Bryce or Zion, but I know for sure that Arches is absolutely amazing.

Yes. Flew into Vegas, drove to Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches, Idaho, Crater Lake (OR), Redwoods, Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Mojave desert, back to Vegas. WHEW!!!

If you put a 200 mile radius with the center at Bryce you'd draw the Golden Circle. If I had 10 lifetimes I could never tire of painting or photographing this area.

I've come to the conclusion that you cannot capture the depth and breadth of the GC in a photo of any quality- you have be there in person. Lucky you.

My frustration was that I would take pictures and an hour later the same scene with a different sun angle was completely different look. I was ready to plant the 'pod at the best overlook and take the same shot every hour from sunrise to sunset. That didn't happen.

I didn't get good shots at Bryce; it was raining and overcast so I didn't capture those unbelievable colors.

But enjoy, you and your camera will have a great time.

Its really difficult for sure, I spend most of my time in the GC (and everywhere) looking at the small things, the details. It took me years and hundreds of dollars of film to look for the photo nuggets in the details, I look back up at the larger landscapes during the "golden hours" of AM & PM.
