I'm a sony shooter and have the a99... it's heavy and big so I too just picked up the rx100 m3.. and I am quite impressed with the image quality and the full features of this little camera... ENJOY IT! I plan on taking mine everywhere! it fits in my pocket!
So Did I! Finally saw something in the compact range that appeared worthwhile carrying in my pocket.
Specifically, the Sony DSC-RX100M III Cyber-shot.
The reviews have been encouraging.
Will start playing with it tomorrow.
I'm a Canon fan with Pentax leanings, but this Sony seems to have most other offering in the size and performance range beat.
Time and experience will tell....
I'd bet he has more than one. Maybe next summer. I won't have my D810 back from Nikon until tomorrow between 3pm and 7pm. I'm trying to explain to my D800 that it's going into a backup mode.

I think your D800 is going to pout for a while. It might even try to run away and go live with another grandchild. ;-)
That thought has crossed my mind. I have a 15 year old granddaughter.

You sound like me, I have a Pentax K20D, a Sony NEX 5N and a new Canon 6D. All from B&H. All have features that I love, great image quality. Enjoy your new toy.
I too would be afraid to actually go to B&H in person.
Cheers,
Tim

As soon as you decided on the D810, this was going to happen. The grandson will be so jealous when she gets the D800, while he "just" got the D7100.

Took a friend. He was in awe the whole time and I was just chuckling to myself. As usual I felt like a kid in a Candy Store. (Speaking of it, Great candy throught the store, Henry). Left with a Carbon Fiber tripod and some other goodies. Always enjoy going there. Great store, great service.
Can I assume you knew that living in New Jersey and buying from B&H online you would have have avoided the 8.875%
!!! sales tax and received free shipping? A tax of almost $9 for every $100 spent adds up quickly.
I can handle the heat. He loves his D7100 and 18-200. I may keep the D800 and get her a D7100 for her 16th. birthday.

Good point. Some folks can't wait to play with their new toys. Understandable.
As for me, I've always had them ship my purchases -- unless I needed it ASAP in NY. (Plus I'd rather trust B&H's shipping to those airline baggage handlers!)

If it is shipped to NJ, we are obliged to report and pay the sales tax by law. :)

The "ignore please" was because I typed other content, submitted it and changed my mind. Since we can't delete our posts I intended it to mean 'ignore my post'. It was not intended as a response to the post above mine on paying NJ sales taxes for online purchases. Sorry for any confusion.
