I bought a packet of wildflower seed to fill in a bare spot by the house. I have gotten some beautiful flowers but have no idea what they are. These in particular fascinated me. Can anyone tell me what they are?

I don't know what it is either, but it certainly is a pretty flower.
And a very nice photograph too. Great texture.

Thank you for looking Mac. I love to look at flowers but I'm not much on identifying them.

I am not the greatest at plant ID's but it looks kinda like a variety of Hibiscus or "Rose of Sharon"

Very pretty picture. It is a hibiscus. There are many flowers and many colors in that family of Malvaceae, and they are being used for food coloring and brewed like tea in a number of countries.

Very nice. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I have a pretty large area and was going to do this so I wouldn't have to cut grass any more....Rich

I know what you mean. The older I get the less yard work I want to do. Thanks for looking.

Thank you for your reply. I looked at the pics you referenced, very nice by the way, and they are the same type of flower. The seed packet said the seeds were imported from Germany.

Background leaves and flower indicate its a "Rose of Sharon" but that's a shrub?

My wife thought they resembled a Rose of Sharon which of course is a shrub. Thank you for looking.

I believe it it Lavatera. I have this in my garden as well. It is hearty and blooms from July to frost. I have it in pink and white.
