I was Army, but, for those of you who served in the Marines.
Friday the 1st of the 9th was deactivated as part of the force reduction the military is going through as per the president's policy.

Ok, Sept 1, I don't understand. Is our military being cut back? I was in the marines, but that was about a hundred years ago (1959-1965).

The military has been getting smaller for a few years. President Obama's time line calls for the military to be back at pre WW II numbers or lower by 2016. The army will actually be smaller than it was in the late 30's. It is why the guard and reserves are pulling so much active duty time, and they are being cut also.

2/9 was the longest continueing service in viet nam. 2nd Battalion 9th Marine Regiment were the walking dead. i had many friends in 2/9

According to the Marine Corps press release they are the 1/9. Unless of course the news guys got it mixed up. That would never happen, would it?
Did a quick google "The Walking Dead, Marines" all the references on the first page up ID them as 1/9 also.

likely so, my memory ain't what it used to be :lol: i just remember my friends in 2/9 and all the quirks they had. they believed it you wore your boots out and got new boots you were the next to be killed. so they used medical tape to hold their boots together so they wouldn't have to get new boots.
