A Very Happy Day for America

Great film of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Honolulu in 1945. Take a look at this video -- absolutely fabulous! Notice the cars and jeeps, youth. The guys in khaki or gray shirts and black ties are Navy Officers or Chiefs. The rest are Army or Marine. How young they all were to do what they did. This guy really captured a moment in history! (You can listen to Jimmy Durante singing "I'll be Seeing You" in the background too.) This is a super video of a time past - we need to remember and be THANKFUL. Check out the color fidelity. It's not bad for 1945. Nothing will ever compare with Kidachrome film.

Thank you for posting this. The younger generations of Americans don't know what winning means.

Great film of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Hono... (show quote)

Beautiful. Honolulu, the gathering place. My favorite city in the world. Always, when in Honolulu, visit the floating Monument at Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona.

James Michener's historical novel "HAWAII" is must read book enjoyed by millions like all his books. He uses a combination of fiction and factual descriptions of the Islands, the history of the Islands and the people coming to Hawaii from across the oceans. After reading his book you will feel at home in Hawaii even on a first visit.

Sorry to hear that. It has been a long time since I left Mililani. Took that tour about 6 times without much waiting time at all. Being alone has the advantage that they will fit you in to just about any tour. I left not long after Mighty Mo was dragged in. Took that tour and it is fantastic.

You can re visit Hawaii by reading the book Hawaii.
