Have a 4 yr old i Mac with 20,000 pictures in it organized under Events like trips, reunions, camera club, etc. Last week I downloaded Drop Box and uploaded about reunion 200 pics for family access. They were uploaded from Photos rather than Events because my much more computer savvy son tired of me unable to click and drop the relevant Event file into Drop Box.
A couple days ago I went into i Photo and Events and there weren't any! Nothing. Now all my pics are in Photos, 1 thru 20,000 unorganized. I'm soon on my way to the genius bar at Apple and I do have a back up hard drive I'll take but thought someone here might have had a similar experience or could help me with the right questions/approach. I'm nearly in my 9th decade so I'm OK with V8 engines and piper cubs but not with the internals of today's devices. Thanks for the forbearance and guidance.
Keep your "know it all son" away from your computer. You should be able to go back from your back up, OR if you run Time Machine just revert back to before the move to Dropbox.
