I currently use a Canon EOS 60D. I'm planning on purchasing another Canon and I'm currently thinking about getting the EOS 6D (full frame). I'm also considering the EOS 5D ,,, any recommendations ????

What do you photograph? Sports, family, wildlife? What kind of lens do you have?

I wrestled the same alligator (5diii or 6d) a year ago. I have been shooting the 6d since and am very happy with it. I shoot mostly outdoor available light and find the 6d a great camera body. Have fun making your choice.

A week ago I tooka 5D M3 in on trade for a Nikon D810. Using it for a couple days quickly reminded me why I prefer the 6D much more. I Ebayed the 5D for a quick sale at a profit and don't regret the decision in the least.

Please don't leave us in the dark. Why do you prefer the 6D?

Upgrading the 60D involves 5 1/2 choices:
1. 70D
2. 7D
2.5. 7D Mark II (expected announcement next week)
3. 6D
4. 5D Mark III
5. 1DX

It seems that #1 and 5 are off the radar, and that is reasonable.

The next question would be, "Why full frame?" How will it help your photographs improve? After that, would the 7D Mark II offer you things which would improve your photographs more?

If you use all three, I would buy at Hunt's because they have local stores, it's good to keep them in business. :-)

I probably will be making the purchase at Hunt's up in Manchester,,, the RI sales tax is way too much when your spending this kind of money,,, I was just wondering if there where someplace else out there I haven't heard of...

Since Calumet closed, Hunt's is my local store of choice. :-)

The 6D will do most of what the 5D will do for a good deal less money. Both are good at high ISO and produce comparable images, but if you are shooting anything that moves, especially fast, the 5D or 7D will give better results. The 6D is no slouch, but it wasn't designed for action shots. I love my 6D and have gotten some good BIF and action shots, but if that type of shooting is a priority and you don't have any particular reason to go full frame then I suggest you wait a bit and check out the 7DII when it's announced next month. If you plan to go full frame then the 5DIII is hard to beat. MT Shooter is down on it apparently, and his opinion is definitely worth considering. I'm sure he would discuss it with you if you pm him. Still, there are a lot of people who would disagree with him. It is an excellent camera. With a pretty stout price tag.
