I realize that this post does not improve the knowledge of Photography, but shared knowledge of Printer problems can provide much needed help in printing those photos.
I have changed the waste ink pads on my Epson Artisan 730, but need a utility program to reset the waste ink counter before my printer screen will come off its only message:"A printer's ink pad is at the end of its service life. Please contact Epson support. Turn off."
Can any of you share knowledge of where to find a reset utility for the waste ink counter for the 730 that will work with a Mac 10.7.5? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Searcher. That is what I was looking for. It costs $10 which is OK if it works. I paid the $10, down loaded the version for Mac OS (I have a Mac 10.7.5), but when I tried to open the download, it would not open. My computer gave an Error message: Invalid Zip File. I don't know what that means or how to work around it. The seller of the download is no help what so ever. So I guess I'm stuck! If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks for your reply. It got me to a starting point.

I know absolutely nothing about Macs, but I would ask if you have the correct unzip application?
I Googled Unzip for Mac and there seems to be lots of different ones available - almost all free.
Chances are either the zip file was corrupted when it downloaded or the zip is packaged in a format that the computer isn't recognizing.

 Try to download again, or contact the seller. Can you try it on another computer?
Thanks, again. I'll try Google.
Success!! I contacted seller of the Waste Ink Reset program, and he walked me through the process. Like everything else, simple, once you know what to do. Counter is reset to 0.
Thanks for all of your responses and help.

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Storesupport/InkPadsForm.jsp The good news its free and runs on windows xp 7 8, bad news it isn't natively supported on osx.
more good news it resets lots of Epson Printers :)
Ok a work around for mac users. The simplest option run it on a windows pc, they are not rare.
alternative option download virtualbox from oracle create a virtual pc xp is fine, install the printer on xp (virtualbox allows you to disconnect usb devices from the host os (osx) and connect it to the guest os (xp). A dubious 3rd option might be to try running it under wine.
Just an observation Epson says it can be uneconomic to change the inkpad on some printers and not to reset and not change the pad.
If the printer is uneconomic to fix then why not reset anyway? Because it is either broke now, or broke in a few months when the inkpad fails.
I agree. Now that the counter is reset, I'll run it till the wheels fall off. We live in such a throw away society. Even such a sophisticated piece of equipment as an inkjet printer is made so the owner has the only regrettable Hobson's choice of paying about the same price to have it repaired or buying a new one on sale.
