I have been using Fotki for over 10 years. A few years ago they lost pictures for 10's of thousands of people and it took over a year to get most back. Ordered about 39 pictures about 3 weeks ago and it took over two weeks to get them. Went to Costco and had the in 10 min. for less. Today tried to upload 69 photo's and nothing but problems.
So now I was looking for another place to store photos that I can share with friends and family. Just started using Photobucket but was looking for suggestions. Free is good.
Thanks,
Ron

Using Smugmug which I think costs me about £38 per year. Never had any problems with them and have good customer service re questions and queries etc.

Orca:
Try Shootproof.com Several plans to accomodate all levels. Currently 5,000 per month is somewhere $20.00/mo. They car archive galleries for pennies additional.
I've been there several years, and great results. You can specify your pricing, the labs to print your stuff, and your own shipping costs.
Not nearly expensive as some others mentioned.
Good luck, and let me know what you find when you go there.

Thanks seroposi and Racefan. That's two to look into. Photobucket is similar to Fotki but seems to work well. Don't know if anyone has had issues with it. I think you are limited to how many photos you can put on a month. Additional at a cost.

I started using Slickpic a few months ago. Free version.
Found it so good I upgraded ($US40) to get a few extra options including disabling right click copy.
Very helpful Helpdesk (Sam is the guys name) if one is a bit thick and needs help (like me).
It's also a free photoblog so you can make a story out of your pics for friends and family etc.
Cheers

I've been using Zenfolio since JAn 2007. When I was first looking I checked out smugmug and zenfolio, i chose zenfolio because their lab was MPIX which I had used for years. the only problem I've ever had was user error. I was in Orlando on vacation and was trying to move some event photos from one folder to another to make it easier for a client to download them. I accidentally deleted the wrong folder and lost the photos. I had the originals at home so they weren't gone forever. however I was going to be in Orlando for 2 more weeks. I emailed the support center explaining the problem. within 2 hours they had found and restored the photos for me..

Thanks all for your suggestions. Now to sit down and decide which to try next. I appreciate all of you responding to my problem. I have many to choose from if my first choice doesn't fit my needs. Again thanks for taking the time.

you get what you pay for..IF it is free probably not worth getting IMHO

I have used Smug Mug since 2004, relative inexpensive... about 40 bucks a year for basic.... they back up at 3 different locations and although they are more geared to the pro level now they do help out us amateurs with immediate answers to questions/problems... they are super to work with and by using them I don't store that many photos on my computers.

I can organize my photos in hundreds of different ways and they stay that way...once I lost all photos on a crashed computer, had back up and restored the pictures, BUT not the way they were organized.....hence I went to smug mug.

they even have a new free editing part to their site called pic monkey...it is great for my level of editing…10 x better than Picasa and I-photo. .

you ought to check it out... I have about 35000 pictures there and right now there are less that 1000 on my computer...

www.500px.com

Some like Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/

I use 500px and find it to my liking because of its ease of use.

Good luck.
