I just bought a Canon Pixma Pro 100 and I'm brand new to (relatively for me) expensive printers. I am also totally lost. I've seen a couple of videos but nothing for the newbie. There are so many color and paper choices I'm a bit overwhelmed. Can anyone direct me to a video that gives a step by step printing scenario? Canon may make a great printer but their instructions really suck.

Call Canon! It may sound juvenile but just look at the thing! Apollo space modules were less complicated. Canon is aware of the fact the machine itself is somewhat intimidating. They will be more than willing to assist. Many of their techies began life here on the Hog! That's the TRUTH! But seriously, they are more than glad to answer all your questions, including paper details.

When I need to see a video on something I go to YOUTUBE.
They seem to have a video on everything.

Have you set it up for wireless printing? I haven't done that, but I guess I should. Then I'll be back here for advice.

Hello Thombar. I've had my Pro 100 a couple of months. There is a learning curve for sure. I set mine up wireless and installed the manual. I found the manual very helpful. It works like a Google search, type in what you are looking for and it should bring up what you want to see. Also, if you are not using one of the Adobe programs, it won't print correctly. It had to do with the ICC files. It only reads Adobe. So you are stuck using Canon paper. It is a great printer once you figure it out. Good luck.

I might be able to help.

When mine was new, I found four paths or workflow steps to printing with the Pro-100. It has to start with what you want to use for your software starting point. What were you using prior to buying the printer?

I don't think that is true. However, my choice was to use Canon ink and Canon paper thinking a single supplier solution might produce better results.

Oh it is very true. I bought Red River paper. All my photo friends swear by that paper. They all use the Adobe software. At RedRiverPaperBlog there 7 tips for using printer color profiles. I downloaded the profiles but still nada. continue scrolling down to the comments. On page 4 John Selmer had the same problem and the response from RR is there as well. If you have the time and interest you may want to have a look.

One, nobody in their right mind would sell a "pro" printer that does not have the capability to work with ICC profiles.

Two, a couple months ago there was an hour long "seminar" sponsored by B&H and conducted with a panel that included a Canon rep and a couple famous photoraphers. In the middle of it, ICC profile use was discussed and explained.

Three, the instruction manual explains how to do with references to several sections for reading how. See the attached screen shot from my copy.

Yes, Canon has a number of ICC profiles on their site and I am sure the paper companies have profiles for their stuff available. You just have to get them installed, I haven't done that yet because I started with Canon paper, will branch out later.

Hi Bill: I was, and still will for cheap stuff, using an Epson XP410. I don't recommend it as I've had a lot of problems with non-OEM inks streaking. So I decided to buy the Canon especially for the great price with rebate. But I need a copier and scanner as well.

Thom, I meant what software is your starting point? Lightroom? Photoshop? With luck, it will be similar enough to what I use that we can do some step by step to get you going in a happy manner!

Hi Bill: Appreciate your kind offer of help. I use both LR and PS CC. I got LR to recognize the Print Studio Pro but when I opened PS CC it wasn't there. I don't know if it will load to this or not. I have some Canon paper as well as Kodak and some off brand stuff that I will probably only use for snapshot type stuff.
