We will be visiting the Phoenix area this weekend. Does anyone have suggestions of scenic places for us to visit?

As your location is in hiding it is difficult to give advice on what to visit that would be new for you. A place in Phoenix that would be of interest for everyone irrespective of their current habitat would be the Desert Botanical Garden. You can spend there the whole day taking pictures or just enjoying the area. It has a cafe, so you can spend the day there if you are so inclined.
This is assuming that is not superhot and there are no monsoon storms :)

Hearst Museum. But have a good low light lens as they frown on flashes.

My wife and I went there a couple of years ago.
The Desert Museum is a nice place to start with lots to do and see including the saguaro cactus.

Cave Creek has some great scenes and wildlife all over.

Sedona should be on your list for red rock sights not seen anywhere else in the world.

If you're interested in aircraft, the above ground burial site is just outside of Tucson.

If there is anything you'd like to know about, PM me.

The Desert Museum is in Tucson. If you come down to Tucson there is also Tohono Chul Park, Mission San Xavier Del Bac, International Wildlife Museum, Biosphere II, Tubac, Saguaro National Park West & East, The Mini Time Machine, Pima Air & Space Museum, & the Titan Missile Museum in Green Valley..

If you enjoy hiking, try the waterfall trail in part of the White Tank mountains in Wadell. Nice view of the valley looking East. Plenty of petroglyphs courtesy of the Hohokams tribe. About a 30 minute drive West of Phoenix.

If you like water and mountain shots go up the Apache Trail thru the lakes around to Globe then back Rt60. You have mountain lakes, cave dwellings, beautiful mountains. Also you have Goldfield an old west replica town with desert horseback rides. You'll pass by the Boyce Arboretum in Superior you have the apache tears area where Gen Cook's men drove the natives off the cliffs. Huge copper mine just south of Superior with overlook.

I was there a few months ago, and it has changed since I was there several years ago.
It seems to have gone downhill some; trail maintenance is lacking, some trails are now dirt.
The plants themselves are set in areas lacking trimming, as well.
Overall, while it used to be a great place to visit, the Desert Botanical Gardens is, IMO, a better place to visit now.

Oh, yeah: Pima Air & Space museum: there's an entire day right there.

If you are interested in photos of wild horses there is a herd of about 200 (Salt River Horses) that live on the Indian reservation just east of Fountain Hills.
