Hello Friends,
Looking to purchase an Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens to add to the bag. I currently shoot with a Canon 60 d. It would be used for some inside real estate photos, Panoramic outdoor shots. Etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The two best are probably the Nikon 14-24 (can be used on Canon with an adaptor) or, much less expensive, smaller and lighter, the Sigma 8-16.

For a crop sensor, such as the 60D, the new Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens, for about $300, is highly recommended. You can read one review here:

There is also the Rokinon 14 mm lens. No auto focus and works great for real estate photography. $299 at Adorama.

You can rent one or a few for test with your camera from LenRentals.com. Watch their frontpage for a SUMMER15 code at checkout where they're running a 15% sale ahead of rentals for Labor Day.

I've been a Nikon guy all my life and now shoot with a Nikon D7100--DX/APSC format like the Canon 6D. Your advice to buy a Nikon full frame lens PLUS an adaptor for the Canon 60D seems odd. I'd be pretty surprised if Canon didn't have a great lens in this category. The lens you suggest in nearly $2K and the Nikon 12-24mm f/4G I have is over $1K. Add the cost of an adaptor and you're looking at some reasonably money for a lens designed for another company's camera. Is it necessary?

I use the Canon EF-S 10-22. It's a little pricier that the others, but I have had very good luck with it.

I mentioned the Rokinon in a previous response. It will fit full frame and crop. I also have the Canon 10-22 mm, which is for crop only. If you move to a full frame, this lens will not work. However, it can be modified to work with a full frame camera, if you are not faint at heard ;)

I am going to make a different recommendation than I normally do. (You do realise that this question gets asked every week or so don't you and there is already another current thread discussing it. Makes me wonder about marketing plants)

Anyway, check out the new Canon 10-18mm.
Cheapest option available and very good optically apparently.

Check out Tokina. They have a 12-24mm & a 11-16mm. Both are fine lenses & I have them both. They are well priced, too. :-) :-)

Tokinas are excellent. They are built like a tank. Also I have found that a 24mm equivalent lens is just about perfect for interior home shots.

Thanks for all your reply's. For the cost and my needs I have decided on the Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens.

Apparently the new Canon 10-18mm EF-S is a very good lens, but the older 10-22mm ( a little more expensive, but maybe discounted now) is fantastic glass - most people say it is as good a lens as their "L" series. I recently bought one and it really is a fantastic lens - very bright and sharp! There is no fish-eye effect at all.

Below are a few images with the 10-22 from a visit to nearby Campobello Island, New Brunswick.

At $299.00 the Canon 10-18 on your APS-C is too good to pass up.

But, if money is no onject, the Sigma 8-16 would be nice.
