When Nikon replaces a D600 with a new D610 do they just send the camera (like the way you sent the D600 to Nikon) or do you get a boxed camera as would be purchased in a photo store?

Thanks

You get a new camera, in its box, just as you would buy in a store. However, there is no warranty on it if your D600 was out of warranty.

Thanks Bruce, I thought that may be the case.

Not true. They replaced my D600 after the warranty was out and they said the D610 I was getting was brand new, not refurbished and has a 6 month warranty with it.

Well, I should have stated that there was no new item warranty card with the D610. ANY service work performed by Nikon has a period of warranty with it and since the replacement D610 is the "fix" for your D600, it will have that same warranty.

I got my D600 replaced last week, it took a call from the manager of Henry`s camera in Winnipeg. My D600 had been serviced twice since May and it was only home three weeks before the sensor was covered in spots again. I had talked to Nikon several times about a replacement, the answer was no, but they would service it for free as long as I owned it. The Manager of Henry`s phoned Nikon on my behalf when I tried to get the camera replaced under my extended Henry`s warranty. Henry`s said they would honour it but the problem was Nikons to fix, hence the phone call. Nikon e-mailed me an apology and stated they would replace the camera. It took a month but I now have a D610 with a two year warranty and my five year extended warranty with Henry`s is carried over to the D610. The only issue I had was Purolator lost my parcel for 3 days , as Nikon had put my Post Office Box number instead of my address. When Purolator found it I drove the hour to the depot instead of having them deliver it the next day !

I just thought,.. Nikon gives you a shiny new D610 and a year later, you are out of warranty, and "out of their hair!" Think about it.
ON THE OTHE HAND!.. Should you keep your original D600, abiding with Nikon's numerous repair attempts(being a loyal Nikon Customer)you will practically have an unlimited warranty for a long time on a really nice camera.

A lot of folks here. Including myself have "Bashed" the D600 from time to time because of Nikon's SNAFU over "the spots." Nikon handled it like cr*p. Granted.
I "DARE" any one to "talk down" the camera's performance. PERIOD!

The "funny" part on this and other forums is that most of the bashers are people that have NEVER touched a D600. Let alone any "quality" camera. Just a bunch on "band-wagon" B.S.

I'm just curious as to what happens to all those baaaad D600's that are getting traded in.

You think they go into the crusher or are they getting repaired and sold as refurbished again?

That thought crossed my mind, but considering that my camera was gone for a month at a time for service and had been in 3 times since May, I figured that it being gone for 6 months of the year was unacceptable.

Would you please include the link where Nikon agrees to this on their web site?

Thanks. Don

Read the 5th step. IT STATES, Nikon will "repair" There's nothing said about replacement.
