The first photograph has an interesting subject performing an action. So the picture has impact. The composition is good but I cannot comment on whether you could have achieved better focus by changing settings as I do not know what they were. It does appear you have significantly cropped the image. If you dabble in post processing you may be able to lighten the shadowed area for more detail. All in all a fine capture.
The second photo is acceptably sharp, again an interesting subject and well exposed. The white background area distracts a bit from the bird but selecting the best background is many times not possible when shooting wildlife. Another nice photograph. 8-)
