Great shots.. I like the second one, but then I am very good friends with everyone on our two fire departmenst so I'm a little biased there. The Iris is gorgeous... and there really is no such thing as Hijacking... its all sharing.... and thats what forums are for.
Keep up the good work..... very nice photos
Thank you for the kind words.
The Iris was taken with my Panasonic TS10. Held it and a monopod with one hand and a black fiber board with the other for the background. It was taken on a sunny day but in the shade. Gray card white balance and no flash.
The fireman was taken during a training exercise. Though I know several from different departments, I would never get that close during a real fire. Used my monopod for those shots too.
the fireman shot is really great.
These were worth the second try!
I like them ALL... but that second one... the fireman.
LOVE it. :)
Love the fireman silhouette.....awesome shot!
The fireman shot. Can't remember seeing a better one.
The fireman silhouette capture is awesome. It does what an action photo should do.....tell a story. My favorite though is the Stella 'doro lily. The color is perfect, the details are crisp and perfectly cropped
like them all, especially the first one. it reminds me of Japanese watercolors. you did a good job with the exposure, as well... it'd be easy to blow the whites in a shot with this much contrast, but these are nicely controlled.
the second shot is excellent from a "story" perspective... very dramatic.
My suggestion re #1, which is beautiful, is.... next time, stand a little further back so that you do not cut off the petals.
the fireman is quite a powerful shot, but could possibly be a bit sharper...
Of course, a great get.
