I'm writing an article about the Plaubel Company, which naturally includes their famous medium-format 6.5 x 9 cm Plaubel Makina. However, I can't find the physical measurements, including weight, of the collapsed camera, although its compact flat size reportedly allowed the photographer to carry it in a jacket pocket. I'd like to compare it to our current i-Phones or similar pocket-sized gadgets, if possible. I'm not interested in the Japanese Makina 67 models, which were bulkier. If you have a 1930s to 1950s Plaubel Makina, could you please measure its width, height, and depth with the lens and bellows collapsed, and weigh it, then post the results? Thank you.
Post-WW II Plaubel Makina IIIR
Many thanks, MorningStar, for your kind response. I already had a copy of the manual, but the note about the weight will be very useful. I visited the Plaubel factory in Frankfurt in 1963 and met with Goetz Schrader, the owner. I bought a Plaubel Veriwide 100 and a Peco Jr. 4x5 view, but they had stopped making the Makina a few years earlier, and he didn't even have one to show me. The Makina 67 is the redesigned Japanese model, which is not pertinent for my article.
