New 3 d seems to have exposure problems with flash. Over exposed and then sometimes gets back to normal. Have over Mark 3 and Mark 2, never experienced. This is direct shoe to shoe connect on top of camera.

Don't have an answer on why but I had a flash for my 40D that wouldn't work on my 5DIII. It worked on all my other Canons but not the 5D III.

You need to supply more info if you want anyone to be able to help you.

1.) Exact camera settings when problem happens.
2.) Exact flash settings when problem happens.
3.) Exact model of flash you are trying to use.

This is a minimal amount of info for getting help.

You should provide more information on what flash gun you were using, what you were trying to do and most importantly the settings you chose to do so, most likely that will clear your problems!

Flash is Canon 580EXII, camera is set to P, flash set to ETL
flash over ride is O in camera. Same problem when flash is on top of camera and also with extension cord. Never had problem with MARKII or other Mark III. Believe in cam electronics are bad.

I can't help...I don't' shoot flash in any of the auto modes.

Have you tried setting your exposure to manual and using TTL on the flash?

I've always shot that way; I had a MK II and a MK III and never had an issue.

Give it a try and see how it goes.

Have tried this to no avail. Camera goes back to correct conditions by itself.

It's impossible that you set the camera to M; and then set the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture and the camera override it.

Impossible.

Start by setting the camera to M mode and try again.

Do try it in Manual. In the Manual Mode and the flash in ETTL Mode, the camera will try to give the correct amount of flash.
