It's the first time I have taken my "good" camera on holiday with me this year as I have young boys and sometimes it is a bind to carry about, what with all their stuff too. I went with my parents so was able to steal a bit of "me" time and have a play! I hope you like them

Very nice set, CJ. I really like #5 and you can just clone that strand of grass out easily in PP. Nice job.
Very enjoyable series! Looks like it was a lovely holiday!

Thanks rp2s! I am a real novice and don't know what pp is and how I would go about it  I do love that one too!

Sorry, CJ, that's just the acronym for "Post Processing". You can find a listing here:

I am assuming you are talking about that blade of grass in the lower left corner, so I took the liberty of removing it for you. I hope you don't mind. You know, photography etiquette.

[quote=Cj tuck] You have a great collection and a good eye. Most of these captures would look better to me if you cropped in closer. A lot of sky and water not needed. David

Thanks David! I have taken your comments on board and have cropped them for you to see

Great shots - worth pointing out that in pic 4 the squiggles on the horizon are wind turbines not your lens.
cropping sometimes helps, but it can also bring you 'closer in' so that you lose the feeling of isolation or distance. A case of try and see on a copy - not the original. In my view your original pic 4 is better than the cropped version as that width of sea in the foreground gives you the feel of the ship being distant and 'leaving' rather than merely 'passing'. That gives a picture more impact.
Think of a title for your pictures as you think about altering what you took or even before you take them. its a great way of making your mind up as to what to include and where your standpoint should be.
final comment: use your iphone or keep a point and shoot in your handbag....your kids will do the wildest things when you can't photograph them!!
Regards
George
