ok... that's a little over the top

Of course, they could just recite the atheist's prayer

The last I had heard is that the restaurant stopped the practice after the atheist complaints and threats of a lawsuit was made known.

It is sad that they can just threaten a small business and change their policy.
They had been doing it for 4 years.

"Mary’s Gourmet Diner has been quietly offering the 15% “praying in public” discount for the past four years–but after the story went viral, co-owner Mary Haglund said she feared a lawsuit would come slamming down on her little shop."

Bullys at their worst.

"Is it really the business of these atheists if a restaurant wants to give discounts for prayer?"

I would think it was no body's business but my own and the Lord and if the restaurant wanted to reward me as a fellow Christian then so be it but the atheist say it was discrimination against those that don't want to pray before a meal. As for myself when in a restaurant I would pray un-noticed, just a simple thank you for this food. Maybe I should start praying more openly.

Who says you have to be a christian, maybe someone believes in Wicca or is a Satanist, if they say a prayer to their god, it should fly.

According to the post, any prayer to whatever diety would have sufficed. I suppose the atheist could say a prayer to themselves and qualify for the discount.

You need look no further to see why this country is in the find shape it is in now. The only freedoms left are what the liberal establishment says are free. If they disagree with your actions, beliefs, of ideas, it is not freedom and not allowed.

If that is the case then why the law suit? Because we know the true intent of the atheist, don't we Donna. It was the Christian's that were praying and that was an affront to the atheist. That it was a Christian owner of the restaurant and that was an affront to the atheist. They, the atheist could have just as easy pretended to pray and would have received the discount. Yes, I know that that would have been deceitful and atheist do not deceive that way but they were deceitful just the same by the threat of a law suit. What business did they have in interfering with the business operation of a privately owned business? Would you be that spiteful Donna?

That's amusing. A lowly christian who believes in fairy tales, especially one like you who believes in stoning and all that crap, calls an atheist deceitful? HA! We are the future, you're mired in the past, buddy. I'd say screw their business and wouldn't go there, what would I need a discount for letting my meal get cold? It wouldn't bother the scroungy christians tho.

What would be your thoughts on you going into an atheist restaurant and there being a giant sign saying, "No Praying Allowed?" It'd tick you off, huh? Because christians like nothing better than advertising their piety. The world's growing out of your religion. We don't need someone to tell us what to do because if you guys are following the words/works of your jesus, you're doing a woefully poor job. You really think you're better than people, don't you. That's why you're yesterday.

If I found a restaurant that had a sign that said "No Praying Allowed", I would do one of two things. I would turn and politely walk out and find another restaurant to eat at. No complaining, no going to a lawyer to file a law suit. Or, I would find a seat and place an order for the food that I want and when it came, I would quietly thank the Lord for the food without bringing attention to myself. Because Donna, I do not have to bow the head and fold the hands and mumble under my breathe nor even move my lips to pray. I do not even have to speak to offer up a simple "thank you" to my heavenly Father because he can hear the prayers from the heart. And no one will know the difference. That is not being deceiving when I honor my God above his creation. Either way, I please my Heavenly Father.

Thank you for your honesty and for showing your true colors.
