Has anyone had experience with the 170-500mm Sigma lens. I have a sigma 70-300mm dose what I need.
As much as I would like to do "Artsy Photography" my eyes just aren't young any more.
Thank you for any help.

Try doing a UHH search for 170-500mm Sigma. There are several currently active threads concerning the Sigma "Bigma" series of lenses on UHH

Had a Sigma 170-500mm that gave me problems (was used) everything was soft. Traded back for a Sigma 120-400mm new and love it. Lighter, faster, quiet and sharp. Don't really know if the lens was bad because of prior use but am satified with new lens.

I don't know of the 170-500, but I have the Sigma 150-500mm and have taken some great nesting bird pics. The only problem, you need a really good tripod.
When you are at 500mm and do a manual focus any slight breeze shakes the long lens, so you have to watch your shutter speed.
