I tried to get outside and set up the camera before the moon came up, but it rises a lot faster than you would think.
My Exsate app. said it would rise at 7:53 but I didn't get out there in time and there were some clouds... so by the time I saw the moon it was a little bit above the hills. Still fun to shoot out there as it was getting dark. I also tried different settings. I keep learning...
I used a Nikon D5100 camera with a Nikkor 18-300 lens at infinity. I used a tripod and self timer on a 2 sec. delay.
I'm not sure why the info says ISO 400 when I have it set on 100. Any comments on why this happen?

Love your shots...nice job!
Very nice, like the way it looks like its setting right on top .

Maybe you had it on auto iso and it reverted to using that even though you set 100.
I like those first two.
Wish I could have gotten to the horizon but it keeps moving!
It was behind trees and clouds for me but you had a good point of view.

I do have a good view here. I live on a mountain facing southeast so I always get great moon rise shots.
Thanks for the ISO info. I will search for more information on auto ISO and learn what the heck I'm doing. It has to be a simple fix that I don't understand on my camera.
I find it interesting that we had people on here cover the moon from the East coast to Central Arkansas to California.
All with different looking results.
Great stuff!
I love #2! Very pleasing foreground (I got a boring subdivision :) ) and natural, nice color to the moon.
