Fortunate enough to be in New Zealand for a very rare 100% complete solar eclipse. Hand held with Panasonic Lumix FZ150 in full auto mode. Excuse some blurriness because of the strong winds at the time.
Complete eclipse
Interesting, Looks exactly like the last printer test page I did for black.

An amazing shot given the conditions. Really sharp as a tack I'm guessing you shot at 1/16000 sec at f 96 ISO 10 to completely eliminate the flare and corona. Do you work for NASA? With such talent I'm sure you are in the astronomy trade. Great result from that Lumix. BTW, next time take the lens cap off :D :D :D
My last try at the moon came out almost as sharp. You must have a better camera.
Thanks fellow UHHers. I just thought with the plethora of moon shots, that I would try to give some equal billing to our magnificent sun. Thanks for the lens cap tip.
Guess that joke got milked for all it's worth. Hey! Humor is good! Geezer1111
Hey Geezer:
I have posted lots of photos which I considered to be creative and well composed. Yet, it seemed that they were overlooked for ordinary shots of the moon in all of its many reproducible phases. The "eclipse" shot was submitted as a lark and lo and behold it was listed on the main page with numerous comments. Still don't understand how these selections are made.
I like your sense of humor. I got a big laugh out of all the posts! Your comment about creative and well composed prompted me to go to your history of posts. You are a great photographer!.....and well traveled, hop skipping all over the US! I don't know how many photos you take per year but the ones I have seen are excellent and a good resource for not only where I should visit but also what I should try to capture and how I can compose better. Nice work and nice sense of humor Waldron...Thanks!
Try it next time with the lens cap off.
very similar to my shot of a W.Va coal mine!
Superb composition
Thanks. It wasn't easy figuring out the correct white balance.
