Hi everyone
Does anyone have a nikon 14-24mm 2.8 and what is your experience with it? Very expensiVe. I love wide angles. Am hesitant due to no filter protection.
It seems that the Lee system is he way to go if you want the protection and piece of mind. Do you have to take the system off or can you permanently leave it on the lens? I am confused about using filters on my lenses. Some professional photographers have told me they never use filters. They do not like a cheap filter covering an expensive piece of glass.

It is the finest wide zoom available.
Very expensive?
Sure it is but if you want the best, money shouldn't be a part of the equation.
No filter protection?
I keep that big front cap on at all times until I am actually ready to shoot then it goes straight back on.

I love this lens! Incredible sharpness and clarity. The filter issue is mute as far as I am concerned - filters provide uneven results with very wide lens. It's worth every cent I paid for it!
I do have that lens .The cruise ship that I took in front of me is sharp end to end.
I already have the 16-035mm f4 and love it as well as the 14-24 2.8. The 14-24 2.8 is my favorite lens. Would I see a big difference between the 14-24 and 16-35?
I meant the 24-70 2.8 not the 14-24 2.8
I got that 24-70 also and it live in my d800. I use it as my all-around and it is my favorite lens .

You should look at the sigma art lenses. Specifically the 35 and 50 1.4. Fabulous lenses

It is the best ultrawide lens out there for full size sensors. It is even used by Canon shooters; with adapters,
of course. I own one and it seldom comes out of my bag, except for very special shots. My 95% of the time player has been the 24-70 mm f2.8
For DX the best I've tried is the Tokina 11-16 mm. I miss this lens, but I dn't shoot with small sensors anymore. I'll try to find some pics to post that would show how similar they both are.
I have the 24-70, 70-200 and I will be adding the 14-24 next month. I'm not worried about a filter because I don't use them. I have had a hard time deciding between the 16-35 f/4 and the 14-24 f/2.8 but the reviews on the 14-24 have finally won out. It has been a difficult decision.
Ken Rockwell favors the 16-35 over the 14-24
