I actually love all of them. The first is somewhat moody, the second has nice contrasts and more detail. The last seems to accomplish what you wanted. This scenery is hard to beat.

Actually the last one does it for me. Reflective. Good colors. Good DOF.

I think I like number 3 the best. That skull peering through the clouds just to the right of the mountain peak is kind of amazing. Maybe I'm just imaging it ;)

Harold, I actually like the first one and think a lot could be done to bring out just a bit more detail in the mountain without touching the fog or foliage.

The visual issue with 2 and 3 is the light, or white, line which follows the demarcation of the trees and the background. It gets progressively more pronounced in no. 3.

The overall scene is a nice selection, the composition does it justice.

I was also looking at that, a big thing is the lack of detail in the mountain.
when I took this it looked brighter and the foliage greener and the mountain more detailed.
I am working on what I thought I saw.
thanks for the input and direction

You have captured a very beautiful scene. If It were my photo I would open up the shadows and bring down the highlights, also I would try to either clone out the blown out sky or change the crop so as to get rid of it. I would sharpen the edges only and add a touch of vibrance to the green, and add a touch of warmth.
Keep playing with it the composition is beautiful!
