Question about Post Processing Software

I am currently using Aperture and since I may to may not like Apples new software, I have started looking for a replacement. First off I have no interest in any of the Adobe programs. They are high quality programs, I just do not feel comfortable with them. I am test driving the OnOne suite right now. Does anyone have experience with DxO Optics pro or Capture One Pro software. Your input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Neal Bardens

I don't have any experience with the p/p programs you are asking about BUT I am familiar with Adobe, specifically Adobe Flash Player. That program gave me a terrible virus. I have some data on a hard drive and the virus ruined it. I ended up reconfiguring my system. By careful with Adobe.

Look into Corel's family of programs. They are good, and inexpensive.

I have been using ACDSee for years for my digital management and RAW processor and am very happy with it. It is very similar to LightRoom but in general easier to use. I might prefer LightRoom's development module slightly better than ACDSee's but they are both very good. I like everything else about ACDSee more, it's just more intuitive for me. I've tried Corel's Snapshot and it's not bad but it's not there yet. I do use Corel's Paintshop Pro Photo when I need a pixel editor and like it as well as PS Elements.

It probably was not Adobe Flash player that gave you the virus - There is a rogue Flash Player update around that does. It looks on screen exactly like the Adobe update except the word Adobe is missing. My anti-virus app spotted it before any damage was caused and I sent a screen copy to Adobe. I am still waiting for a response.

As searcher said, it wasn't Adobe Flash Player that had the virus ..... and your computer system didn't have proper protection.
So whose fault was it then?
Adobes fault? .... or your fault?

DxO Optics Pro 9 works very well for me. The standard preset usually gets the image close to the way I want it, and if I set the white balance accurately before the shot that would be applied as well. I only use it to process my "keepers".

I use other tools like FastStone Image Viewer to do my sorting, culling, and cropping. I'm currently experimenting with ACDSee Pro 7 which has some advantages over FSIV, but also some disadvantages.

Take a look at Topaz. 30 day free trial. All up-grades are free not like the other ones that charge you for every up-grade. Great webinars with good discounts of 30% to 50%. Plus on top of this they are rather easy to use....Rich

Combine these two and you are a winner with main stream software that will last you a long time. Get the Ultimate version of Paintshop Pro. It comes with addons worth 100's. Both are 32 and 64 bit... you get both ordering. No reason to upgrade PSP for perhaps 3 years and as was stated Topaz upgrades are free.

Typically, you can get Topaz at 30% off just for watching a Webinar ... part of their great education system (free).

yes most programs will do editing but it is to your advantage to stay mainstream. Adobe PS is bloated and expensive; far in excess of what we mere mortals need or can use... they are in the clouds!!
