These Pictures won't print properly

I've been printing pictures since the 90's and always figured out how to fix a printing problem.

My other pics print fine.

These sky pictures either come out to over saturated or the sky looks gray instead of blue.

The sky was light blue the clouds were dark underneath but not that dark the rays were light.

Been working with Adobe raw and photoshop, but I give up.

Any ideas ?
There are more then 3 but heres a sample

Did you verify if anything was out of gamut using Soft proofing?

Thanks I tried it.

No difference in the picture I see on the screen.

OK, so I downloaded one and took a look with my printer/paper combo in softproofing. I don't see anything out of gamut, but then again I don't know what kind of printer / paper you are using. There is some clipping in the clouds, but that should not cause what you describe.

If you have a good color managed workflow, IE monitor calibration, soft proofing etc then I don't know what would cause this. If you don't have a good color managed workflow, I would start there. But I would have expected other less than satisfactory results on previous prints if this were the case.

Thanks for the reply
I'm not sure you understood the problem.

My pictures all print fine.
except for these cloud pics.

When I print them the sky prints dark blue, if I lighten it the sky prints grey.
If it's the printer why do all of my other pics print fine ?
there is something about these files I'm missing, i was hoping someone else would have a clue.

Thanks again.

What PP software are you using?
What printer?
Is the printer or the software doing the color management? Make sure it's only one of them, not both.

I don't think here is anything wrong with the pictures. It's just that you expect them to glow with light and paper is just not the medium that is going to do it for you. You could try some nice baryta paper with a little fluorescence in the whites, but that may not be enough.

I have seen similar situations where slides really look great when projected on a good screen, print fairly well on Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) but simply loose their magic on paper.

You could try printing them on transparency film and illuminating them from behind or you could print them on metallic "paper" but, by their nature, they will always look better projected on a screen.
