One thing that is apparent form al of the replies and well wishes I've received is that this is a very welcoming and very enthusiastic group. I also belong to several motorcycle related forums and while they are all very good I don't ember any of them being so supportive of a new member. So, thanks to all of you. I look forward to participating here.

No real plan. What happened was I got a new Samsung Galaxy S5 phone with a 16 MP camera in it and I was shocked at how good the pictures were from this camera. That really inspired me because now I could run around all over Middle Tennessee with a camera while riding my motorcycle. It made it so easy to take photos of the places I've always liked to ride to and relax. My first photos were weak compositionally and several professional photographers who are friends of mine helped get me pointed it the right direction and with some work and cropping on my pictures I turned stuff that I was not all that happy with into keepers. Once I had stuff that I actually felt good about I was pretty excited to learn more and take more pictures. So, as of last weekend I bought a Sony NEX 5T after reading up about suitable cameras for my purposes. More to follow.

I'm in my 60's and while I have always liked photography and saved pictures on my computer and purchased photo books over the years I have never felt confident about taking pictures. Little by little digital photography has changed all of that. The big advantage for me was knowing instantly whether my picture was any good. Recently a professional photographer friend of mine showed me how to download several apps to my Galaxy S5 phone camera and crop and enhance several photos that I thought were a disappointment. From there I really got the bug for this and went and purchased a new Sony NEX 5T camera and I am busy learning to use it. I live in Middle Tennessee which is very pretty anyway and ride a motorcycle so my primary interest is taking pictures as I travel around on my motorcycle. We have a long motorcycle trip planned for the late Fall in New England when the leaves turn gold so I am trying to learn as much as possible as quick as I can so we can get some good photos while we are traveling. Any suggestions on where to learn more, good books I should look at or other websites that might be useful would very much be appreciated. I look forward to getting more involved here as I progress.

Hi, BKelly….welcome to the hog. You have some nice shots of your ride….In answer to your question, If you get to New Hampshire, Look North to Flume Gorge. It is well worth the drive.
Also, The seaport of Gloucester, Rockport and Ogunquit are definitely photogenic. We also went to the town of Lowell. This is where they have Boote Mills, with tours of the Mills….very interesting. Hope this helps. Oh, BTW, when you are in Boston, take the self-guided historical tour. You won't regret it…

Rich,

Thanks for all of the New England travel tips. We have all of those other than Lowel on our itinerary. I'll look Lowel up. What state is it in?

Keep I touch.

Best Wishes, Brian

Welcome Hogger from Connecticut. Be careful with that bike. A close friend just laid down his brand new Indian Heritage. He is fine kinda sorta but the bike is in the shop for the summer.
