I am finally having time to attack the edits for my trip. Enjoy and don't forget the download button. It was so crazy that the creek had so many waterfalls one right after the other.

Nice Douglas-fir tussock moth (Orgyia pseudotsugata): http://insect.pnwhandbooks.org/hort/landscape/hosts-and-pests/spruce-picea-douglas-fir-tussock-moth
And, of course, nice flowing water.

Thanks for the id on the moth. I was pretty certain of the tussock moth, but didn't have a clue as to the species. I was in a Douglas fir forest when I found this guy. I noticed the genus name is almost the same as the genus for the Doug fir. Being a Douglas yourself, you probably already knew that. LOL. Thanks again for the id.

The creek is Sweet Creek Falls trail. It is 10 miles out of Mapleton, Ore. I would like to head up there again. I only had a couple of hours before leaving to Ashland. There are 11 falls along the short walk. Super place. Haven't seen anything to compare it with. I think it would be great in the fall since there are so many broadleaf trees as well as conifer.

looks like a great place! i've made a note of it, for next time i visit the Florence area. if you like waterfalls, there's a great site that lists every waterfall of any significance in WA, OR and ID... it's called waterfallsnorthwest.com. a great resource... i use it often to find the locations of waterfalls to photograph.

Very nice photos indeed! I actually found myself at that same lighthouse area, pretty nice history. Here are a few I snapped of the coast

Looks like you had a good trip. I didn't take my kayak this time, but I might next time. I use it to shoot birds. There wasn't much in the way of birds out on the coast. I was surprised as the habitats looked like they could support a variety of species.

Love the horses on the beach. You did a MUCH better job of that house than I did last year. Kudos!
