Sunflowers, Bees and Fungus

The birds have planted a whole field of sunflowers under their feeder. I've never grown sunflowers myself so I've been taking a ton of pictures, mostly not that good. The first photo is one of the flowers. The second is a mushroom I couldn't resist, perked up overnight, and must have been eaten the next night by a marauding deer herd my wife battles to keep out of her veggy garden. The frame is from Perfect Effects 8.

The last is one of my sunflower photos I was about to toss, but I blew it up 150% to take a look at the bee. After staring at the bee a bit, I realized how incredibly camouflaged this bee is. The yellow fur blends with the yellow petals and pollen, the black with the black on the stamens or whatever they are, and the green with the green leaves. I think whatever kind of bee that is, it was made for these sunflower plants. I cropped the heck out of the photo to get just the bee, then blew it up 150%, so the pictures is not great, but really shows off a perfect camo job by mother nature.

Very nice set, BigDaddy. That bee seams to be carrying a significant amount of pollen. It is great camouflage as well.

Thanks rp. It was the pollen that first attracted my attention, but after I enlarged it the rest of the camouflage was pretty amazing I thought.

Thanks Michael.

The color is a bit darker than the original photo. Looking at it today, I over did it a bit. The original was a little washed out. I often go a little too far on my first edits, and unless I really like a photo, I don't often do additional edits.
