Thank you, Angela, rlaugh, ebbote, and Erich. I enjoy dragonflies... but don't you think their backs are kind of creepy, with all those wing-hinges, torsion bars, sway controls, and axle bearings?! :lol:

Yep. :-) I kept telling him to turn around and smile for the camera, but he refused, and there was a little ravine between us that prevented me from getting around on the other side of him.

Thanks, Rob! Silly thing refused to turn around and smile for the camera, and he was just across a steep arroyo, so I couldn't scramble around to the other end of him. I patiently waited... and waited... and hope fluttered when he just once lifted off -- but he settled right back down in precisely the same position. :D
