Some people, naive, gullible, or ignorant, do not understand the actual goals of the Hamas terrorist group. They believe wrongly that if Israel makes enough concessions and gives in to shakedowns, Hamas may somehow stop it's terrorism. Some of the mainstream media dishonestly promote such nonsensical notions. But Hamas has made no secret of its ultimate goals, which are frequently stated and which are written in its charter. The Hamas Charter very clearly explains that the conflict over Israel is an Islamic religious conflict, not a territorial one; and Hamas cites the Islamic sacred religious texts to prove it. Here are just a couple of excerpts:

"Our struggle against the Jews is extremely wide-ranging and grave..."
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).
Article 28:
"Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims..."
Article 7:
"Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah's promise whatever time it might take. The prophet (prayer and peace be upon him) said [in a Hadith]: 'The time (of Resurrection) will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: 0 Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him!'"
