I was thinking of calling this "Datura Diminuendo" but I thought the reference might lose some viewers. The original premise for this photo was to see if I could get an interesting shot while it was raining outside - overcast skys, scattered light, and no shadows to speak of. The coloration in the flower bed was not all that interesting, but the tonal ranges sang out for a B&W treatment, so I obliged with a rendition in NIK Silver Efex.
This was a JIT photo (Just In Time) - the SD card died in the camera just 2 shots later.
This one works for me, Bob. I like the B/W treatment you gave it. Nice and crisp, the flowers are well defined by the monochrome and jump right out at you. Well done.

Thanks Randy. I've been driving by this garden for days, hoping the trumpet flowers would open up and point upwards. Ah well, I got half of my wish.
Another version of the same flower, backed off on sharpening effect. I like this one the better of the two.

Looks attractive with your treatment. I have a pink trunpet flower vine.

Thanks photophile. These are beautifully shaped flowers so they do very well in monochrome, mainly because they contrast so well with the darker foliage. I imagine pink ones would do well too.
What a beautiful picture; I think I like the less sharpened shot a little bit better than the first on.
Thanks Sirius ..... I agree with you that the second one looks better. I tried to replace the first with the second, but I was about 20 seconds too late. They only give you 60 minutes to change a topic. Drat!
That's OK. The second one is the one that I hope people will carry in their memory.

Both are really good.
Thanks robert. We both seem to be on a b&w jag lately.
