Any one have thoughts on which lens is better for macro if money is not a factor?

How approachable are your more likely subjects? I have no problem sneaking up on a flower.... flying insects are another matter. The 180 allows a longer shooting distance, so likely subject matter would be my deciding factor.

Working Distance (WD) for the 100-mm lens on a Canon APS-C format is about 160-mm = 6.3-inches.
WD for the 180-mm lens is about 290-mm = 11.3-inches.

With my 105-mm macro lens on a DX format Nikon, the WD for most of my insect field photography is between 8-inches to 12-inches. To obtain best DOF, I rarely shoot at 1:1, which would be 6-inches WD.

Thanks. When you cite the working distance, there's just not that much difference between 100 & 180. Incorrect assumption on my part
