I was stationed on the USS Princeton (CG 59) back in 1996, when we served as the flagship for RIMPAC.
We didn't participate in any of the actual exercises. We just sat pier-side in Pearl Harbor and let the Brass do their thing.
Six weeks on Oahu certainly didn't suck...
