Keep Kodak Film Alive?

There is a big push on in Hollywood these days to keep Kodak's film production alive. Fuji has dropped out of movie film manufacturing leaving Kodak the only game in town. But digital has dropped Kodak's sales of movie film down to 4% of what it was just 8 years ago.
My hope is that this effort will spill over into the still film side of the industry and Kodak will ramp up some of its 35mm and 120 roll film production. We can only hope.

Thanks, MT. My prediction- Kodak will come up with a new emulsion that can easily be transcribed into digital form for distribution. This would give the high resolution of film with the more universal distribution of Digital Projection. It is not realistic for theaters to keep both Digital and Film projection equipment in each booth- especially when there are megaplex theater complexes, yes? The majority of "movies" will be captured on video for the ease and economy of instant editing whiteout processing and printing delays. Besides, look at how much of film production today is computer generated. The ORIGINAL Star Wars were filmed optically, using miniatures and Nikon lenses. Those days are over.

Istill shoot 35mm and 120 medium format, but less and less all the time. I have a Cambo 4x5 that I just recently found a replacement rotating back for on Ebay (the original broke when dropped on a rock accidentally).
Now if I can find some film cheap I plan on doing some shooting with it just for the fun of it.

Good for you.. I only have 35mm and shoot only slide film..yes film is not cheap these days and processing is thru the roof now, just over $20 bucks at my local camera store. I recently found E6 processing via online I believe it is cheaper, however not sure of quality yet, but at my local camera store quality is excellent.
