With much anticipation my tour of Afghanistan is finally over. This shot was taken on my first day of freedom as I transit through Dubai at sunrise. I wandered into a construction site that overlooked the city and water to get the shot. It was really nice to climb a sand dune without worrying about what's on the other side. I shot this as a three exposure HDR with 1.5 offsets to mitigate the back-lighting.

Next up for me is the pursuit of the endless summer. I'll be doing a lot of traveling and taking pictures around the world as I go. Finally, I can take pictures without being concerned with OPSEC (operational security)

Thank you! I'm glad to be out. It's about to get really stupid right now with all that's going on in the Middle East. It's a good time to leave...

Sir, thank you very much. There will be much more camera work on the way from some quite interesting places.

To answer your question - something I don't usually do while currently deployed - I WAS attached to the DOD via the Army as a Medic. I have completed my obligations to the DOD and am no longer attached. I'll be looking at other possibilities that do not involve a war zone or photography restrictions after I get done decompressing with travel etc...
