I do admire the results of using the SX50, but I simply do not see how these were taken while hand holding this camera. I will buy into these results if they were taken with a very steady tripod support.

I believe the SX50 has very good IS - specially designed for the superzoom lens. However, I do not believe that this is the issue here. You are the issue here.
