Great pictures. On this site we celebrate photography as an art form. But as important or more important is the role photography has played in recording history. I have pored over the pictures of Mathew Brady's Civil war photography.

No, I hadn't, they must have been loading when I commented, I initially saw as far as the woman's x-rayed hand. The other's are very nice too. Trapeze, I guess! I would have been scared to death. :)

You have quite a few here, I'm glad you said that there were more.

That is the problem when loading multiple photos. I wish admin would do something about it. I will ask them and see what they can do about it. Thanks for viewing Donna. :-D

Thanks for posting these!

If anyone out there enjoys seeing historical photos, there is a wonderful web site called "Shorpy"...the format is nice and new photos are showcased each day. What is really nice is a feature to view the photo "full size"! You can really see details not readily seen. This is the way to really step into another time!

All the best,
Susie Q

Thanks for posting.

I just love old images...especially the ones from the 1800's in the US.

If you EVER get to read a novel by Jack Finney called "Time and again" you'd get a thrill because it's the novel equivalent of these images...fascinating.

Great book. It was the inspiration for Stephen King when he wrote his book "11/22/63".
