Once I was strong, once I was fast, now... I am empty.
Ha! I will try, 5-7-5

Oh boy...... and I thought I waxed the philosophical a bit too much... ;-)
Good capture, tell us about how you setup this photo.
<grin> thank you guys, it was a stack on a cheap rail. I took two stacks with 20 shots or so each and ran each stack through Zerene creating one pmax and two dmax outputs (so I ended up with 6 Tiff files). The two pmax images got aligned in PS and I blended one of them in at 50 percent. Then the dmax images got layered in, but I had masks and only blended in pieces inside the spider.. I was curious what (if anything) this blending process would do.
I know with the stacking I failed to move in small enough increments and there is focus banding. And my damn sensor is getting dirty and leaving stack streaks.
Lighting.. a folded book with fanned paper facing you is holding up taped sheets of paper that is draped over the thing for diffusion. And had a flash shooting through the paper. Spider was standing on a circular block of wood.
Today I'm experimenting with shooting inside a Styrofoam cooler with the flash inside pointing at a cooler wall and screens between flash and bug to cut off direct light. It's working pretty good, I'm gonna shoot a stack on it soon.
I've been reading about this macro stuff for a couple of weeks and am now too addicted to this, and over the weekend temptation got the most of me and a stackshot is in the mail.
I only hope my wife doesn't skin me!!!

A different wrinkle. I really like it. And it's very sharp and detailed.
Growing like crazy,
feeling swollen and confined.
Time to pop my top.
Time to pop my top, made me LOL.
I felt very lucky with this spider shell, the light worked well with it - right on the edge of translucent.
I'm putting out a warning to all wasps. I was just outside fixing a fence row and over a 10 minute period I got stung maybe 6 times. (It DID give me an excuse to come in and drink a beer). I kicked one with my free leg while it was stinging my opposite ankle, but I couldn't find it's body.
Just saying, I will have no mercy on a wasp..

Reminds me of a time I was about 6 or 7 and we were crawling around in the hay barn and I took a different ladder down. Stepped on a huge hornet's nest. A dozen or so got inside my shirt. I set land speed records from the barn to the house, screaming/crying on my way to a sympathetic mother with a box of Arm&Hammer baking soda. That was "the cure" back then.
LoneRangeFinder - You were young.. For me my story was as a teenager we were on a school hike and I was running down the trail. My head hit a nest... I got away scot-free, but the kids behind me got torn up. Nobody knew what happened and I didn't have the nerve to confess.
I suspect that baking soda works better than beer. I was going to pour it on the wound but ended up drinking it!!
