Tamron SP 180 macro lens build quality?

I'm looking to purchase the Tamron SP 180 macro lens & I'm debating whether to:
1. Buy new for $729.00 (6 year warranty)
2. buy used from Roberts for $529.00 (180 day warranty ?)
3. Buy from e-Bay seller for 400-450 ( and take my chances)
Do you think the build quality is good enough to take a chance on e-Bay seller. Cost is extremely important but if there have been too many issues with this lens I may be better off waiting & buy new.
Comments on personal experiences with this lens will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any & all comments.

I purchased mine from ebay for more than the Robert's price, in pristine condition and no warranty.
The eBay prices you quoted are kind of low, I would be a little leery but, you should have PP buyer protection in that case.
I don't know what true macro lens you have already, if any but, I think something like the Sigma105 OS/HSM would serve you better at $669 (new).
Or, if you are looking for more reach, consider the Sigma 150 (new or used).
If you are set on the Tamron 180, I think I would go with Robert's. You are already saving over $200 and "should" have more peace of mind with that purchase.
There are other options out there. I only listed the three that I currently own.

BTW, since I got the Sigma 150, my Sigma 105 get used much less and the 180 just may go up for sale or be relegated to tripod assignments. Not that it's not a great lens capable of tack sharp images, it's just that I like the Sigma lens better because of the HSM/OS.
The build quality of the 180 is very good.

Thanks for the reply. I presently have the older Nikon 105, 2.8D. I'm looking for something with a longer MWD. I've been watching e-Bay for a while & occasionally one will sell for a little over 500 but most that are listed over 500 don't sell & are re-listed. I'm watching one that has dropped from 520 to 460. It may be most people are wanting a lens with HSM & OS
Thanks again for your reply.

If you decide to sell the 180 let me know. I might take it off your hands if the price is right.
