The D90 was discontinued last year. All the sites still sell them ( body Only $899 TO $999.) as if they were a recent, A still made camera.
If the price is $500-$699, its usually gray market with a 1 year warranty (not Nikon U.S.A.).
Nikon for a refurbished w /90 day warranty wants $899.
So is it advisable to wait for the price to be more reasonable OR has anyone bought a gray market, any complaints, where would you get software updates.
Anything else you can tell me would be great.
Not sure what you are looking for here. The D90 is a fine camera but was technologically eclipsed by the D7000. The D5100 exceeded many of the D90's capabilities also. It has completed its production run, yes, but is still available even from Nikon USA. So long as they are still available and are filling a demand the price will hold up.
The D90 is still my workhorse body, with a D5000 as a second body. It will probably be 2-years before I consider a replacement or addition.
Love my D90!!! I paid a bit more for it almost 3 years ago and still learning, will be a bit before I replace it....

Nikon USA shows the NEW D90 at $899.95 and the Refurbed D90 at $809.95. Both are currently available.
I had shopped and shopped at the time and did not realize is bought my D90 from a fly-by back about 3 yrs. ago. Found out it is gray market. Never had a real problem with it except for the lense which was talked about her a while back.
since this is a conversation about the D90. I just got my refurbished one from KEH to use as a second camera to my d7000. I had hoped to use some of the lenses that I have with my d7000, but the automatic focus doesn't work on the D90. No big deal except I take a lot of sports photos. Does anyone have an idea for a lens for my d90 that would be good for sports? It's just hard for me to step back with the D90 from my d7000 that I love. I also wanted to save my d7000 more for portrait/weddings etc.
Maybe I"m just asking too much from the d90?

Why doesn't the autofocus work on your D90? Is it defective? KEH should warranty it if its not working properly. The D90 and the D7000 autofocus system are identical mechanically so any lens that AFs on the D7000 will AF on the D90. I use them both and interchange all my lenses regularly.
I agree with MTShooter. When I got my D7000 I checked out all my lenses and they worked identically on both cameras. I have since upgraded my D 90 to D3s so now there are different issues

Those DX lenses just are not made to work PROPERLY on the FX body do they? I shoot all FX lenses on my DX bodies in the hope of someday upgrading to a pair of FX bodies, if and when the checking account allows it. Only DX lens I own is a 18-55mm VR kit lens because it was free. For now, the D7000 produces wonderful results and I am happy to be shooting with it as well as the D90.
it was the 85 lens I borrowed from a friend that wouldn't autofocus. I just put on my nifty fifty and it did though. Not sure why the other one wouldn't and I may have done something wrong?
Mt Shooter- The fx lenses, they work in the D90?, the auto exposure and the auto focus?

I'm sure it wouldn't have been an FX lens as the lady I borrowed the lens from also had a D7000 with is DX. Just not sure why the 85MM 1.8 didn't Auto focus? anyone know? I may have had something not set correctly on the d90 also as I just got it as my backup body. I"m going to study the book this week and also ask my camera shop I go to. I really liked the 85 1.8 when it was on my D7000 though
