My wife opened a new area in the yard for flowers and put in one of those seed mats to see if it was suitable. This is what came up.
Single Flowered zinnias have a single row of petals that reveals the center of the flower, rather than hiding it like the semidouble and double flowered types do.

:) She is. Considering that it stayed cool thru most of the spring, and summer is almost over, she was happy that something finally bloomed. Glad you like these and thanks for looking.

:) Thank you, Erv. We were surprised what grew. I wasn't sure if anything would grow on the spot. The package indicated what seeds were in the mat but this single plant came out. There are more buds ready to bloom.
I know Janny will enjoy watching them grow -- you, too. I await next spring/summer's pics.
